This is a Heavy Duty Steering Box Brace for Chevrolet/GMC Squarebody pickups & SUVs (1973-87 trucks, 1973-91 SUVs that had a solid front axle).  This brace captures the rear two factory steering box bolts inside the frame (it replaces the factory 1" bolt sleeves) and then connects to the factory front frame crossmember (to an existing hole, but you will need to drill it out to 3/8").  These older frames are riveted together, and the rivets start to work loose over time - with a little bit of play in the rivets, the frame sides can move thus allowing the steering box to move.  This results in a very loose steering feel, even if all of your tie rod ends and ball joints are tight.  This is especially noticeable after switching to crossover steering on these trucks.  This brace will re-connect the steering box to the strong frame crossmember and keep that steering box in place!  This comes welded, unpainted.

PLEASE NOTE:  if your frame is already cracked around the steering box bolts (and this is VERY common!) you need to fix that problem first!  This brace is designed to strengthen a frame in good shape, not hold a steering box on that is already falling off!
